Welcome back !

Hello everyone,

I hope you all had a fantastic break over the October half term. I cannot believe we are in November already!!!

Over the last 2 days, we have been looking at our new topic: DISASTER!

During this topic , we will be learning all about disasters around the world and in particular, a Tsunami. Our English work focusses on a specific book called ‘Running Wild.’  This book was written by Michael Morpurgo and follows a journey of a young boy in the aftermath of a Tsunami.

I am really excited for this term as the topic is an opportunity to explore the wider world.

I look forward to uploading some amazing work!!

Hello all,

Another week has flown by and I cannot believe we have 2 weeks left until we have a short break. WILD!

This week we have been working really hard in class to produce our leaflets that contain information about the Coronavirus. We have been learning about how to structure a leaflet and how to create something that is appealing and child friendly.

In maths, we have been delving into the world of Ratio and Proportion. We have found that it is vital to know our times tables because without that, it makes Ratio very hard to work out.

On Friday, we took part in World Mental Health Day. We spent the day learning about mental health and what it means to have mental health. We had so much fun creating memories and understanding the importance of Mental Health in everybody.

Next week we have another action packed week. Please don’t forget that PE is on a Wednesday and Dance on a Thursday. Our ‘winter themed’ cards are going home today; it is really important they come back ASAP if you would like a set of cards ordered.

Have a great weekend!!!!

Routine and Assessment

This week has seen Year 6 beginning to learn and understand the expectation for year 6 .

We have all been working extremely hard to make sure our year 6’s are learning how to be prepared for what secondary school and future life will have to offer them . This week in  our PSHE lessons, we have discussed our hopes and dreams for the future and what we can do to manage our anxieties when we are worried about things.

In addition to this, the children have been undertaking a Maths assessment task. Y6 were introduced to the format of a SATs paper and completed a variety of tests that were designed for the end of year 6. I  have been super impressed the by the effort and resilience shown by children to do this.  Well done everyone!

This week , we are starting to look at Reading and assessment.  We are also going to be conducting an investigation into Microorganisms ; this will be very exciting.

Ben 🙂

Welcome to Year 6!

Hello everybody!

Our first week is now over and you have ALL been working really hard to catch up. It has been great getting to know you and we still have lots more to do, which is very exciting.

Our first week has seen us making sense of the world around us and what has changed in our own lives. We have also learnt about the natural world and are in the process of finishing our docuseries podcast in the style of David Attenborough,

In English , we have been learning to write a narrative and have started to plan our setting descriptions using a variety of language features which include metaphors, similes and personification. We created a setting description as a class and built our own from there.

In Maths we have been learning lots about Number and Place Value and have just completed our first times tables assessment to see where we are.

I am very impressed by lots of your work in class and I hope to see lots more as the weeks go on!

Thank you for such an amazing week. Stay safe and feel free to upload any home learning you  maybe doing.

Thank you and enjoy your weekend!

School’s Out For Summer

Dear Year 5,

One of the strangest things about ending school this year is not being able to wish you all a wonderful Summer holiday, in person.

From us teachers, we want to end the school year by saying how proud we are of each and every one of you: how you have adapted to learning at home; the dedication you have shown towards continuing with your learning; the positivity you have maintained throughout. It has been outstanding, and you should all feel extremely proud of yourselves.

School closes today, and so will our class blogs. Over the summer, we want you to keep reading regularly and complete any tasks that your new Year 6 teachers have set you.

We hope you have a fantastic summer holiday, and we look forward to seeing you again in the Autumn Term.

And will you succeed?

Yes! You will, indeed!
